Have you wanted to spend the day creating art?

And not just any art. This coming Saturday, August 16th you can spend the entire day creating these amazing projects with Mike Putman. His first class of the day is "28 Crowns" Metal Tape and Sculpey Collage. In this class every student will leave with a completed 6 X 8 metal tape & Sculpey collage. You will be combining several intriguing techniques to create a metallic grand masterpiece. The first technique you will cover is the basics of metal tape. Using ghost shapes, chipboard, and grunge board you will be taught how to create various textures and dramatic layer effects. We will also cover how to distress your piece and apply color and shadows using a special method. The second technique we will explore is creating exciting embellishments with Sculpey. We will go over stamping, baking, and coloring with this versatile product. After combining the first two on a 6 x 8 wood board. You will then add imagery using embossing technique and various rub-ons. To finish- you will add a few rustic touches with metallic pigment and paint. Please feel free to bring a small image to incorporate into your work. Don’t forget your favorite stamps as well. All other supplies will be provided. This class is from 10:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. and is $55. Call the store to sign up!

The next class is called "Grungey Visions" Storytelling With Beeswax and Plexiglass. In this class you will be introduced to a very basic technique of beeswax. This is a great class for a beginner or an advanced beeswax student that is looking for new technique. This class will specialize on creating a grungey and dynamic surface with beeswax. Students will be taught how to get rich tones and a powerful look using alcohol ink, pigment inks, and stencils on an 8 x 8 basic beeswax surface. This surface will then be used as a fantastic background for a multi layered plexiglass image. You will be taught how to print an image of your own (or a choice of two different images) using transparency clear adhesive film. Then we will attach the two pieces creating a grungey and powerful collage. All supplies will be provided. Requirements for printing your own image: bring at least a 4x 6 photo- black and white works best! This class is from 2:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. and is $45. There are just a few spots left in this class so call quick!

In the survey we just sent out we asked everyone to tell us what type of classes they would like us to have. An amazing amount of you said "Beeswax", while a great many of you said "Techniques". These two classes cover both of those requests. Mike's classes are always full of techniques. Layering, inking, waxing, stamping, using alcohol inks, pigment inks, stencils. You name it and it's probably covered in these two classes. So, what are you waiting for? Come spend the day with Mike!

Are You Kitting Me?

Jennifer has been very busy printing and packaging. She puts together the most adorable kits. These are little tag kits and she has found the most adorable graphics ever to print on the tag for you.

This is my personal favorite. This Bird Paper Kit will make a lot more than one page. It is packed full of the most adorable bird and botanical things that she could find including a sheet of the wonderful ephemera that she makes up. It's so nice to have a graphic artist for a business partner!
This is the other side of the bird kit. As you can see, it is jam packed!

This is a close up of the tag that's included. Is this gorgeous or what?

O.K. enough of the birds already...Here's the beach kit which also includes a custom sheet of Beach Ephemera.

Ahhhh...a very vintage Baby Kit. Oh so cute. Includes vintage baby ephemera and vintage wall paper.

Just in time ~ Back To School (which is where Tucker will be tomorrow!)

This is what it looks like when the creating frenzy is going on!

And this is what it looks like Jennifer needs nutrition after spending the day "Kitting"!

And remember, we will ship to you. We're working on our online store so for now you can call us and pay over the phone.

Another Great Time at Mystic Paper!

This little group made a special request for the "Paper Doll" Card class. It was taught by Meri Wiley and it was the first class Meri has taught here. What a success! Not only did this group attend, we had several other ladies that were free on a Friday evening to come take the class too.

Meri was super prepared and brought cases and cases of, well, of just about everything!

Flowers & buttons galore!

Lots of paper doll images. Men, women, boots, hats. She even brought funny faces for everyone to use if they wanted. CeCe tried that out!

Here's Bonnie's work in progress.

And here's CeCe's monkey faced bride. I don't think she left it that way but it sure was cute!

Our "Special Request" classes are really turning out great. If there's ever a class you want to take that isn't scheduled at a convenient time for you, let us know. We're always happy to try and pull a class together for you and your group! We're just that way...
