Touch of Class

Here's a class that we didn't get a chance to blog about. Patty started her first in a series of Heritage classes. The first class is an informational class complete with a printed reference book full of tips and pictures. Here are some of her students looking through just a few of the fabulous Heritage projects that Patty has completed.

If you missed this first class, no worries. Patty is repeating it again in July. Read the rave review given by one of her students, Lisa.

Photos are borrowed from Patty's blog. Thanks Patty!
Steam-Punk What ????

Main Entry: steampunk
Part of Speech: n
Definition: a genre of science fiction set in Victorian times when steam was the main source of machine power; also written steam-punk.

We also think it means "anything goes". Here are a couple of samples of yesterday's Steam Punk Altered Dolls. Each one turned out so differently. Becky made so many choices available to them so each doll expressed the artists inner steam punk!

How can you not love the polka dots on this doll? Terry did a wonderful job!

We would like you to meet Leah. She created the first doll you saw. Leah drove all the way from Wyoming to spend a week with her sister and to also spend a week with us. Leah took almost every class we offered this week, and trust us there were plenty! She was quite the trooper. Her sister also got to join her for a couple of the classes. By the end of Friday nights class Leah was pretty punchy but she showed up like a trooper on Saturday and created a beautiful doll. Thanks for spending the week with us Leah, and have a safe drive home.

Just In Time For The Weekend

Whether you are going to stay inside or lay by the pool everyone needs good reading material right? Stampington sent their newest publications just in time. Let's start with Somerset Life. Some of our favorite people are in this issue. On page 82 is an article called "An Artistic Journey" by Kim Allistair Caldwell. Kim puts on fabulous crafting affairs that are over the top in every aspect. Our customers come back from California gushing about what a wonderful time they had and what a fantastic hostess Kim is! Definitely worth attending.

It's hard to tell in this picture (because we're looking at the top of their heads) but we're pretty sure we see Jessi, Colleen, Sherry, Kim C., and Kim H. I'm sure there are more of you that we know. Let us know who we left out.

The new Somerset Studio. We can't wait to go through this publication. It looks yummy!

This is a new publication called Stuffed. This has Lisa written all over it! Not that she's stuffed but she creates the cutest stuffed sock monkeys. She really needs to be published in this magazine.

Stop in and pick up your favorite issue and have a great weekend whatever you're doing!

We'll be open this Sunday from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. We have a very special class going on.
Altered Puzzle Piece Swap...

If you are participating in this fun your swap pieces are due today (How did you do Lisa?).
So far we have gotten in some incredible mini pieces of wonderful artwork. This swap has been a lot fun. If you like to make suggestions on some more swaps for us to do, please go to our Swaps and Trades page to write your suggestion, we look forward to choosing our next swap!

This Afternoons Amazing Soldering Class...

Josie taught the Dimensional Soldered Key Box Class to a full house. Josie is great at explaining the do's and don'ts of soldering.

Some of the finished projects. So much fun and everyone's always turns out creatively different.

Josie has more soldering classes on our class schedule, check 'em out!
This Mornings Amazing Graphic 45 and Utee Beeswax Collage

Mike always starts his classes with an introduction of what you will learn, safety, and little known facts about all of the product you will be using. Most of his students listen and take notes but sometimes he has one that just wants to jump right in to her work. I won't mention any names here!

This table for example...all intently listening and taking notes.

Here's a sample of beginning to layer your papers and photos. This particular student was a young girl that came with her mom and grandma. The baby in this picture is her grandma.

Same family...This is Grandpa during WWII.

This student took her version in a direction all her own. That's what Mike likes...use your imagination.

Here's an example of coloring your photo before layering it.

This is one of the ways that Mike teaches you to use UTEE on a red rubber stamp.

Pouring UTEE into a cookie cutter.

Some of the finished projects.

This was a great class! Everyone left excited about their creation. Thanks Mike and students!

This Summer's Tear Jerker...

We know that all of you are going to want to see this movie. We received a call from Warner Bros. asking if we would like to help them promote their movie. Of course we said yes! They were kind enough to send us movie posters, book marks, and a flier with info on how to receive complimentary movie passes. They also sent us three books which you can enter to win by stopping by the store and dropping your name in to the entry box. We'll be drawing the winners on Friday, June26th, so make sure you come and visit us before then. You are also welcome to take a free poster and bookmark home with you. Wasn't that nice of Warner Bros.?
