We have had a special request ~

And you all know how we love to accommodate our customers!! The request is for a special class this Saturday with Mike Putman
to teach his Old World Journey's Beeswax Collage class. This is the master beeswax collage technique class. In this class students will have four themed journey kits to choose from: Pretty Paris, Romancing Rome, Victorian London, or Gypsy Travels. In this class you will be introduced to the use of beeswax for collage and scrap booking. Topics taught will be different applications for beeswax, safety, tools, basic technique and styles. Other topics that we will touch upon include image searching, layout, and storytelling within your art. All students will create a 10x10 collaged beeswax panel. Special instruction will be on coloring your pieces, the cool effect of transparencies, styling with wax imprinting, stamping into wax, and popping your piece with pigments. After students have chosen a kit- they will be able to choose many more rich images and exciting embellishments to further help tell a dynamic story. All supplies will be provided.

I know it's short notice, but if you've wanted to play with beeswax and you're free on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. give us a call!

If you would like to find out if you will like working with beeswax we are having a free make-n-take tomorrow evening, Wednesday, July 30th from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Mike has once again created a fun project for you to learn basic beeswax techniques!

Also, on Saturday from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Suzette is teaching her "If The Shoe Fits" book.
This whimsical mini album was designed for you Girlie Girls. It is a must keep book for yourself, although we're sure you will want to make many more for best girlfriends, daughters, sisters, etc. In this class you will be free to create, layer, and collage. Using vintage and found ephemera, words, quotes, and charms. Learn distress ink techniques, aged edging, cool uses of alcohol ink, and other household items. Not to mention the amazing wire shoe you will create for the front cover. This dimensional collage book will be a unique piece of art for you or someone close to you to treasure always. So, if the shoe fits...wear it!

There are still a few spots left in each class so if you have some free time on Saturday and want to create give us a call!

What a fun day! Happy Birthday Sue!

Today was like one big party at Mystic Paper. Kim, Sue, and Sherry were out celebrating Sue's birthday and they started their day with us. Flowers, cake, lunch, and shopping. They really know how to do it right. We missed Colleen but we hear she'll be back next week.

And if anyone can create a party it's Carlene! Carlene is a favorite gal of mine who is way too much fun, an artist who is published alot, and a poster of some of my favorite pictures on her blog. (I tried to put a link to one of my fav pics on her site, but alas, where is Mike P. when you need him. I can't figure it out). Oh, that's right this post isn't about me, is it! So, Sue was buying the current issue of Stampers Sampler and I had to point out to her that Carlene was published in it. Which led to an autograph and a picture. Lots of laughs and alot of eye rolling from Mr. Federer who was comfortably seated in the "man" chair. It was a great day!

And, there's just one more thing I need to point out. Carlene said that she will definitely be teaching some classes at Mystic Paper. She said it, I heard it, and I blogged it! We're gonna hold you to it Carlene because afterall, if you blog about it it's pretty much written in stone. Right?

If you check out our web site you'll see that all of our teachers have been very creative lately.
These are just a few of the upcoming classes. And remember, you have to click on the arrow next to the month to go to the classes for August and September. Here is a line up of our upcoming July classes. This class is on Saturday, July 26th and is taught by Caroline Miller. This is a Tim Holtz inspired class that demonstrates the art of collaging, waxing, inking and junking! You will make two hinged 5x7 canvases that you will blend distress ink, collage and then wax with amazing Tim Holtz products. You will take home your own Artist collage to show off.

This class is the perfect thing to keep your teen girls busy! A special class for young girls (12 years old or entering 6th grade) and up! Drop your girls off on Monday, July 28th and they will spend a few hours creating something that is based on the most popular book of the summer. They will create a letter box to hold notes, photos, and heartfelt secrets! You will cover a cigar box with beautiful papers & embellishments. Next you will make a little letter book to hold some of the treasures you will keep in your new box. Class includes a treat to eat and a little goodie bag!

Have you wanted to learn how to use bees wax? Do you know how to stamp in it, color it, and make your images pop? This class will teach you all of that and more. As if that isn't enough, each student will get their choice of four themed journey kits to choose from: Pretty Paris, Romancing Rome, Victorian London, or Gypsy Travels. Could you ask for anything more? Join Mike on Tuesday, July 29th to start your journey!

We have lots of requests for card classes. This is a card class that is truly Mystic Paper style! You will be creating cards that are truly one of a kind. You pick your theme and with the direction of Meri you will use bits and pieces of this and that. Your creation will be unique and you will find out exactly what to do with all of those scraps you have laying around!

That's what we've been up to. We have classes scheduled through September. They are unique, inspiring, and truly one of a kind! Just like our teachers!

SUMMER...

Did you all know that Summer CHA is this weekend?
Well, we already have some of our new summer product!
Graphic 45, one of our new favorite companys has sent us their two new lines.
All these papers are double sided so it's going to be hard to decide which side to use!

Botanicabella, which has a bit of an art nouveau feel has many designs- garden, sea, birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and even music.

Here is a page layout I found this morning on the Graphic 45 blog using some of the gorgeous Botanicabella papers.

And Playtimes Past, which has a little bit of everything for girls and boys. Tea party, trains, marbles, nursery rhymes, games and our favorite is called Child's Play.

We also have some new and restocked Melissa Frances papers, Wings and Crowns rub-ons and Vintage Embellishments.
